With 2024 coming to a close, we thought we’d feature one of our proudest moments of this year!
A month ago, the Porsche Endurance North America 6 Hours of COTA came to a close, and it saw our RAFA Racing Club x Grid Finder Livery Competition winner getting their livery being put onto the RAFA Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.
Santi Meroi, known professionally as Ecdysis Design, was the deserving winner of the competition, and he got to see his creation take it out on track at the Circuit of the Americas piloted by Ian “Crimsix” Porter, Caroline Candas & Rafael Martinez.
Meroi’s livery was chosen among countless other liveries on the Grid Finder Livery marketplace by Ian, owing to the creative utilisation of the RAFA Racing Club R across the car along with the seamless integration of the Grid Finder Orange and RAFA Red.
“Congratulations to Santi!” Porter said. “We see a lot of liveries go from the track to iRacing, but this is one of the first times I’ve seen it going the other way.”
Santi has made several liveries on iRacing before, notably winning the livery competition hosted by our friends at Traxion.gg! However, the RAFA Racing Club x Grid Finder Livery Competition offered Santi his first taste of IRL livery design!
“I really love being able to have this first experience designing a real car,” Meroi said. “This opportunity that Grid Finder offers me means starting a new cycle in my project to connect with real professional teams.”
While the race result at COTA wasn’t meant to be, with the RAFA Racing Club crew being taken out by a Cup car and bringing about a DNF, the race weekend was a celebration of the growing synergy between sim racing and the real world, not only in terms of driving with Ian, but also with livery design with Santi!
